For Air Max Day 2020, Pixel Plus Media transformed Nike's Dubai Mall flex space into a fully immersive lab environment — where the technology inside the shoe became the world around you.

01 / Challenge

Transform the retail floor

Nike's Dubai Mall flex space needed to stop being a space people walked through and become one they walked into. For Air Max Day, the brief was to transform the store entirely — creating an environment that celebrated Air Max not as a product on a shelf, but as a cultural and design landmark worth experiencing in person.

02 / Idea

Step inside the Air unit.

The Air Max is defined by what's inside it — a visible bubble of pressurised air that changed footwear forever. We took that signature detail and scaled it up, turning the Air unit into the spatial concept. The store became a lab: the place where the Air Max is born, studied, and celebrated. Every element — lighting, materials, set dressing, AV — was built around the idea of air made visible.

03 / Execution

Full spatial design and proejct management, delivered in two weeks.

Pixel Plus Media handled the full scope — concept, spatial design, and installation. The environment was built around a lab aesthetic: clinical surfaces contrasted with Air bubble-inspired accents, bathed in signature green lighting that ran throughout the space. AV technology was integrated across the installation to bring movement and energy to the environment. Promoters dressed as lab technicians completed the world, making the space feel inhabited rather than staged. The entire build was conceived and delivered in three weeks.

04 / Results

A store that became a moment.

Air Max Day exists to create cultural conversation — and the Dubai Mall activation delivered exactly that. The transformed space gave shoppers a reason to stop, stay, and engage with Air Max as a story rather than a transaction. A retail environment that felt less like a store and more like an event.
