01 / Challenge
Following Faya Palaeolandscape's 2025 inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Mleiha Archaeological Centre needed a way for tour guides and visitors to explore the site's deep history — its archaeology, geology, water sources, and artifacts — in both Arabic and English. It had to run reliably on-site as a permanent fixture, with no dependence on internet connectivity or a content-management backend.

02 / Idea
The experience invites visitors to 'choose their path' and explore Faya through two journeys — the archaeological site and its UNESCO recognition. Within the site, three themes unfold: archaeology, groundwater, and terrain, each blending narrative, imagery, and a catalogue of excavated artifacts. Rather than a standalone monitor, the interactive was conceived as part of a sculpted display wall echoing the strata and contours of the Faya landscape itself.

03 / Execution
Pixel Plus Media developed the application in Unity, running on an Android TV device with a fully offline SQLite local database — no CMS, no network reliance. The bilingual Arabic/English interface uses swipe and touch gestures to move through the content, cataloguing 16+ artifacts with descriptions, provenance, and dating spanning the Middle Palaeolithic to the Neolithic. Pixel Plus Media also designed and fabricated the physical display wall surrounding the screen, integrating hardware and finish into one seamless installation, delivered in a one-month build.

04 / Results
Launched on 18 August 2026, the installation gives Mleiha's guides and visitors a self-contained, tactile way to engage with Faya's history right as global attention turned to the site following its UNESCO inscription. The offline-first architecture keeps it running dependably in a remote desert setting, while the bilingual design makes the site's significance accessible to both local and international audiences.
